JOB SCOPE

The Production Geoscientist will work closely with the Subsurface and Operations teams, participating to integrated reservoir studies (and potential field re-development projects), while being responsible for development, implementation, management and content generation of the geoscience database, as well as being responsible for compliance, reporting and liaison with National Agency for Mineral Resources (NAMR).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Production Geoscientist will provide expertise in building complex 3D models, interpreting well, reservoir and seismic data together with the Subsurface team.
  • Running uncertainty analysis, P10/P50/P90 volumes and ranges is desirable, and training can be provided.
  • Be responsible for compiling drafts of required documentation for various technical projects (e.g., well suspension, well interventions, proposals for data acquisition, etc.) administrating outsourced resources (consultants) and reviewing the prepared materials with the appropriate BSOG technical staff, coordinating the revising and submission processes, as per Romanian specific legislation.
  • List, track and coordinate NAMR requests and requirements. Ensure timely submissions and reporting to BSOG management of ingoing and outgoing NAMR related correspondence and timely coordinate Company’s responses to NAMR. Communicate and persevere with BSOG stakeholders ensuring they are appraised of submission requirements and status of NAMR submissions and approvals in a timely manner.
  • Daily tasks include but are not limited to maintenance of chronological order of documents (outgoing and incoming), managing a NAMR compliance task registry, all due dates and responsibilities, proactive housekeeping for NAMR audits, liaise and develop good work relationship with NAMR staff as required; manage in intermediate NAMR related communication with Partner or other stakeholders.
  • The Production Geoscientist will act as BSOG liaison in relationship with the National Agency for Mineral Resources (NAMR), taking responsibility for compiling and submitting various types of documents to NAMR, in accordance with relevant legislation. Responsibilities include periodic submissions of reports as well as required documentation related to ongoing and planned operations, data access and transfer requests and providing technical reports.
  • The Production Geoscientist will serve as a focal point for the geoscience database management and environmental related tasks, working closely with the subsurface group and technical consultants providing user and technical support focused on geoscience and operational needs, under the coordination of the Subsurface Manager.
  • Play an active support role for BSOG’s geoscience team for geoscience database maintenance and other data loading and handling related tasks.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION

Technical knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science discipline (e.g. geology, geophysics, hydrogeology, reservoir engineering).
  • Preferred 5 to 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Previous experience of working in Romania, knowledge of NAMR requirements and excellent understanding of Romanian Oil & Gas upstream business and related legislation is required.
  • Effective team interaction and communication skills within a multi-cultural environment.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently. Dedicated to meet administrative deadlines to support execution of operations and subsurface team.
  • Self-starter (proactive) with very strong technical business writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate recommendations to management clearly and concisely.
  • Previous exposure to geoscience data handling, some knowledge of data formats and archiving.
  • Be willing to learn basics of data analytics/data mining tools (Spotfire, OpenServer)
  • Good knowledge of offshore operations/facilities will be considered a plus
  • Except excellent Microsoft office computer skills, Petrel, Kingdom, Petex knowledge would be highly desirable (willingness to learn will be highly appreciated)

Abilities:

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Strong analytical approach in solving complex technical problems within a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Good technical writing skills and presentation skills are required. Excellent skills in MS Excel and Databases.
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional, multi-cultural team.
